Week 36, Thursday, Diet with Dianna

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.  And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. I John 2:15 & 16
Focus your thoughts on God's Love and not food. Food is your source of nourishment, God is your source of Love, comfort, joy, peace, strength, support, protection, happiness, fulfillment, ...and much more!
Pray through your cravings!

You are wonderfully made!

***************

My Bible study group met tonight. We encourage each other to make healthy choices. One of the girls in our group lost 7 lbs. in one week! AMAZING! She made good choices and put her focus on God and prayed her way through her cravings! So GREAT! That just encourages me to exercise and eat well. I'm not competing...just excited!

Exercise:
Walked 1.5 miles
Kettlebell

Menu:
One egg, two turkey sausage patties, coffee

Small garden salad, water

Baked Tilapia, fresh corn, tea

Snack: carrots, tomatoes, grapes, nuts, strawberries...Those were our choices for snacks at Bible study, coffee, hot tea & water.

Week 32, Sunday, Diet with Dianna

Romans 5:1-3 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
I slept in this morning. Around 9:30 a.m. my beautiful, talented daughter woke me up to coffee and breakfast. Ah! It was a great treat and nice surprise. She cooked me an egg, turkey sausage, and a whole wheat waffle.  Dee-Lish! Thanks Britt!

I spent the rest of the morning in my room. First I finished up my devotional. (No church on Sunday because we go on Saturday nights! I get to sleep late two times on the weekends!) Then the family wanted to go for a long walk. I threw on some clothes and we walked, with the dogs, on our usual trek. It felt great to walk and talk without breathing hard or gasping for air. I like losing weight.

Next, I read some emails, and read some news. Around 1:30 p.m. I warmed up some leftovers for lunch, Later I read a few chapters in a book, drank some coffee, watched some football, and watched celebrity chopped.

Around 10 p.m. I worked out with my daughter doing some kettlebells! WOW, great day!

Menu:
egg, whole wheat waffle, turkey sausage
Yellow squash and asparagus
a few corn chips and a few nuts
slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a cup of coffee.

Exercise:
Walked briskly 1.5 mi
Kettlebelled - half hour

Week 31, Diet with Dianna

I Timothy 2: 1-8 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.
Happy New Year 2012!
The first day of the New Year.
I began a new Bible Devotional and study!
I also began a new exercise routine and my daughter has joined me! AWESOME! One day down, tomorrow is a new day!
I pray for each of you to be successful in your dieting/healthy eating and exercising. You cannot have dieting without the exercise. They are a unit~ they go hand in hand. Just to exercise you would probably not see a big difference in your weight.
If you just diet, you might see a slight difference but soon would stall and fail. To be really successful in losing weight you must diet AND exercise.

There are two kinds of exercises that are beneficial to success.

  1. Aerobic or getting the heart pumping fairly rapidly for an extended period of at least twenty minutes. Then a cool down and slower pace until your heart is back to normal.
  2. Muscle toning or Strengthening. Using some sort of weights or resistance bands to firm up and tone muscles. All muscles in the limbs and your core. Try a few to start and then progress to more difficult. NOT BODY BUILDING, just strengthening to prevent muscle loss during weight loss. You can actually lose muscle when dieting so it is vital to add some sort of muscle toning along with aerobics.
When choosing an exercise routine, choose to only do muscle toning every other day. Aerobic exercise can be done everyday! Only in muscle toning should you rest a day in between to let your muscles rest and heal. Most experts agree on the resting, unless you are body building.
Aerobics on the other hand is good for every day. Maybe alternate between just walking and doing a more defined aerobics workout.

Have a blessed day and YOU ARE A WINNER!

Exercise:
Kettlebell
2 mile walk

Menu:
Turkey sausage, one egg, toast, coffee
Beef taco and a few corn chips. (Mexican food is our family's New Year's Day meal tradition.)
Homemade bread and some popcorn...too full from lunch so this was a snack! Coffee.

I like Friday! Week 24, Diet with Dianna

Fun Friday! Whoo-hoo. Did some volunteer computer work, ate breakfast, got dressed, did a little more volunteer computer work, and then headed off to work on some book edits and lunch. After lunch the car would not start...well it actually made the cranking noise, but wasn't getting any fuel. Uh, oh! Called a tow truck and it is sitting at our mechanic's garage. Possible fuel pump or fuel sensor (in most Ford Product that are the Crown Victoria, Mercury Marquis and similar cars). WE just replaced the entire fuel tank assembly last summer. Ford thought that the fuel pump and tank should all be one unit....therefore it all has to be replaced when it fails! BOO-HISS! Mean ol' Ford!  This Grand Marquis was a FREE gift from my Grandfather for us to drive, since we didn't have a car. I'm not complaining, mind you, but I don't really like (nor would I purposefully purchase) FORD products...

The day was, absolutely gorgeous, windy, partly cloudy, and cool. We stood outside waiting for the tow truck and my husband that was on his way from the other side of town to rescue us from the parking lot. The tow truck driver, Charlie, was so very kind. His truck cab only seated two additional riders, therefore, one of our party would have been stranded. He waited with us until our ride showed up. We followed him to the garage and our mechanic met us out front..."This doesn't look good..." he says to me. We laugh and he already had a bay cleared for our car to be pushed into. ~Side note: we spend a lot of time and money with this mechanic. My husband is a very gifted man and perfectly capable of doing the repairs, but chooses not to when we have a mechanic that will do it for nearly peanuts and he has all the employees and tools, and lifts, and the such.

We also use this opportunity to be a witness to him for Christ. He was raised in a Buddhist family. He no longer follows the Buddhist ways, but he doesn't follow any thing. He is such a kind, honest and caring person. We would love for him to join us in eternity! I don't know why our car has been attacked with malfunctioning, but we are God's tools and He will provide for the expense of repairs! No worries!

Revelation Knowledge:
Sitting in the car, listening to the engine turning but not getting fuel reminded me of dieting. We diet and sometimes forget that our bodies need fuel. Not enough of the right kind of fuel (nutrition) and our bodies will get tired quickly and begin to hurt and our brain gets fuzzy...putt-putt-sputter-blahhhh.

Too much fuel and we get bogged down, tired quickly, gasping for air, needing to pull over for frequent pit stops...equally bad.

Eating and exercising is just like maintenance on your vehicle. Add in the right type of fuel, right air pressure in the tires, regular preventative maintenance, and it will last for a long time. That's the way it is for our bodies, too.

Eat the right kinds of food, exercise, and regular checkups and our bodies will last for a long, long time.

Scripture:Isaiah 40:28-31: The LORD is the everlasting God,    the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,    and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary    and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,    and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD    will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;    they will run and not grow weary,    they will walk and not be faint.

Today's Menu:
One egg-fried, two turkey sausage patties, coffee

Half a Schlotzsky's Small Original Sandwich and a few Jalapeno chips.

Saltgrass Steakhouse - small dinner salad, one slice of bread, and some fried mushrooms! DEE-LISH!

Week 22, Day 2, Diet with Dianna

Tuesday -- Since I'm a night owl, I was working on my daily nutrition tracker and the web site went down for maintenance...while I was entering data! AHHH! So, I will have to add it to tomorrow's. Ahh!

Me in my smaller clothes!
My Daughter's costume
My Nephew
Tonight my daughter and I volunteered at the church where we attend; they had their annual Fall Festival. WOW! They had bounce houses, kiddie rides, petting zoo, face painting, food, karaoke, and more. I worked in the entrance ticket booth and I would guess that over 500 people went through my line. IN ALL I would guess that over 10,000 attended. It was HUGE! I've never seen so many people, except the midway at the State Fair. Amazing. We had a great time...it flew by. Then we were very tired and grabbed a quick and very late dinner at Chick-fil-A.
Afterwards, when we got home, I jumped in the shower; it sure felt good and I rubbed my back and feet with some sports cream...*sigh :D

Exercise...not officially, but I did do a LOT of walking, standing and bending at the festival.

Breakfast:
Turkey Sausage and coffee

Lunch:
Arby's Cool Deli Wrap...about a 1/3 of it and the rest I took home for my cute hubby.
Diet Mountain Dew.

Dinner:
Chick-Fil-A Chicken tenders - I only at 2 and a few waffle fries

Snack:
Small slice of my diet pumpkin cheesecake and coffee.

GREAT DAY!!!! Nutrition will be added tomorrow, I hope.

Week 21, Days 2 & 3

Tuesday & Wednesday

Well, I completely missed Tuesday and that's just too bad.
Today is even more busy! I volunteered in the church offices, bought some food from the big chain warehouse club, cooked muffins (well started them anyway), and started twenty-four breakfast biscuits for the working men in our household.
Sadly, in the middle of all that I found out that a friend's husband died, from a brain aneurysm this past Monday, and I only found out that there was a visitation this evening...at the last minute. I rode with my mother and sister to offer our love and show support. My friend lives about an hour away and during rush hour traffic, it took a bit longer. Unfortunately, tragedy isn't convenient. I am so thankful that she is a strong christian woman and that she had such a great attitude and outlook on her current situation.

One of the reasons I was able to leave on such short notice is that I have a super support system and team family! My son and Hubby finished up the muffins, by pulling them out of the oven and wrapping them, individually, then putting them in the freezer. My very talented daughter came home from a long day at work and finished up the twenty-four breakfast sandwiches for her father and brother! I am so blessed! Thank you, everyone for pitching in and coming to my rescue! I appreciate being able to go without fretting or worrying about leaving the food...to ruin. AWESOME!
