Week 44, Saturday & Sunday, Diet with Dianna

Psalm 145:9-13 The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
10 All your works praise you, LORD;
your faithful people extol you.
11 They tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
12 so that all people may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
Wow! I had a very busy weekend. Some activities were planned and others were a surprise. I definitely did not get a lot of rest. I will have to rest this week. I won't be getting to be early, tonight. *Ugh*

Friday I ended my week with a delicious dinner with all but two of my immediate family.

Saturday was abruptly woke up when the thunder shook the windows...yuck to be awakened in a startling way...thank you Lord for your protection from the storms. Your alarm clock is a bit loud, though. Saturday was worship service and that I always a most delightful highlight of every weekend! The Word given was most excellent and uplifting. Dinner with all the family was the topper to my day.
My surprise for the day was to an impromptu home improvement activity. My folks were doing some much needed interior painting. They'd decided to do this and before we left for church I moved all the furniture to the center of the room and covered everything with blankets and vacuumed. THEN, I freshened up and dashed out the door for church.

Anyway, my folks had been painting for several hours when we arrived back from church and dinner, and they needed some assistance. My daughter and I put on our work clothes and did some touch-up paining.

Sunday, I got up and made cinnamon and orange rolls for the "guys". Britt and I had egg and toast with our coffees. Then it was off for some shopping for a baby shower gift and pick up a few grocery items. Upon our return, we took off on a walk with the dogs. OH, BEAUTIFUL day after the rain. Cool and sunny. AWESOME. Then Britt and I again dressed for some painting and finished painting the hallway walls and ceiling.
Tomorrow we tackle the trim and doors.

Great weekend and ready for the week. God is good and has so richly blessed me!

Week 42, Tuesday & Wednesday, Diet with Dianna

I Peter 1:3-9 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen[a] you love. Though now you do not seeHim, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
I have been eating well. I have not lost...boring and frustrating. I'm not giving up. Now, the fault is mine because I haven't be diligent in my exercises. I have faltered and been giving in to laziness, lately.

This isn't an excuse, by any means. We had about four inches of rain in less than twelve hours. The neighbors house, up the hill, dumps water off the roof and gets trapped between our house and theirs. Even though we've taken preventative measures, the rain still seeps into the office. So,  for the last day and a half, we've sucked up water, put down fungicide, and had fans blowing to dry out the flooring and walls. Plus, during the storms, our dogs get emotional...fretful and since the rest of my family works outside of the home, I am the logical dog sitter/soother. I keep them from bothering the sleeping folks.  Sadly, at 3:30 a.m. I got the munchies and I ate some chips...not a lot, but a few...still...I was tired and hungry. I didn't make a good choice. I could have had grapes or some cheese, but they weren't crunchy and noisy to keep me awake...so I caved in and ate about twelve Jalapeno Pringles.

Today, in my car, on my way to volunteer at the church offices, the "check engine" light came on. So, on my way home, after volunteering, I dropped off the car at the mechanic's garage and walked home. Brrr, it was a bit chilly and windy, but the walk warmed me up and it felt good to walk. I didn't get in a full 2.5 mi walk, but about 1.5 mi. Still, I walked!  I do need to get off my bee-hind and exercise a bunch more! Gotta do it! Must exercise! REALLY!

Go Me!

Week 38, Saturday, Diet with Dianna

Acts 20:24However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Today was the 5K Walk/Run at our church. I participated and crossed the finish line in 37:07:09 minutes. NOT a world record, by any means, but it was a great time for me... especially since it was my first ever timed event. I was a bit teary-eyed as I crossed the finish line...NEVER have done this sort of thing as an adult. I was completely exhausted and exhilarated at the same time. I pushed myself; jogging (more like a run/hop) and walking very briskly.  This is not unfamiliar to me, walking...but just recently I've added jogging into the mix and stretched my distance up to 3 miles.

The neighborhood where I live has quite a bit more steeper hills compared to the gradual hills at the event location, today.  If I hadn't had the opportunity to work out on a tougher course prior to this event then my time today might have been a much slower pace. This course at the church property was very nice and there were two hills to climb. The weather was cold and rainy, however the rain miraculously stopped for the race and started up after the race was over. THANK YOU LORD!

Now there were a lot of younger folks there. So many of them are avid runners. Since I am a novice at this sort of thing, these well trained young'uns lapped me and finished the race, went inside, got massages, drank water and waited for the results to be posted...all before I ever started my second lap around the course. *Ugh* I was even passed by some blue hairs. One gentleman, 69 years old, passed me at the finish line! AMAZING!!! I hope that when I'm 90 years old, I will run and walk at a faster time than what I finished today.

Sure, I was there for the experience and fun...not to race and not to compete with any other participants. However, when there are a lot of people doing the same thing, the emotions of the moment kick you in the brains and your body tries harder, pushing you further than just a walk in the neighborhood. Today was tremendously fun, exciting, and incredibly hard!  I am definitely going to keep walking/jogging and hopefully, next year, I will be able to run the entire course...no walking.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to get some snap shots of me, my daughter and my husband. They participated with me too! Of course, they finished much faster times than me, but we still had a blast!!!!

For some reason...I can't imagine why...I was very hungry today!!! (Tee-he-he)

Week 34, Saturday, Diet with Dianna

Genesis 2:3, And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.
Exodus 20:10, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you.

Rest is good! Take time to rest and recover from a good hard week. Even rest from exercising. Give your muscles, ligaments, and bones a time to rest. Don't wear yourself down by overdoing. If you have exercised 5 or 6 days a week, just rest! Even the Lord God Almighty rested and he requested that His people rest, too.

Lazy day! I enjoyed my whole day of just lazing around. My daughter and I did manicures and pedicures and watched a BBC America show "Sherlock". WOW, it is now my most favorite show. So smart. I had to watch the first one twice in the first season just to catch the things I missed. BETTER than the movies with Morton Downey Jr.  My daughter and I had a movie festival along with our pampering. So fun.

Later in the day we went to praise and worship service. AWESOME!!!!!!!! Pastor Robert Morris is so anointed with the Holy Spirit. There is no way a human can be that smart; it had to come from the Lord Himself.  After worship service we had coffee at the church cafe, which is bigger than most Starbuck's and way better and way cheaper. I only wish that I lived closer so I could go there instead of the other place.

Exercise:
Nope...just did my Bible study and rested.

Today's Menu:

Egg, turkey bacon, two biscuits....yes I ate two biscuits!

Small mixed baby green salad with grape tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese, shredded carrots and mixed nuts with cranberries and Newman's Own Family Italian dressing. OH! and a half a turkey and sharp cheddar cheese sandwich on homemade whole wheat bread with basil pesto.

No dinner and no snacks...just a vanilla late - sugar free with no sugar soy. Hmmm!

Week 34, Thursday & Friday, Diet with Dianna

Food for Thought! Give your cravings to God. Fill the hurt, sadness, longing, emptiness and boredom with the word of God. Rejoice in the Lord, for he is your strength. True happiness is a choice and it can only come from loving and praising the Lord!!!! Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Well, I totally did not take the time, in my busy schedule, to post for Thursday. It was hectic. Today was a better, much slower paced day. Whew!
Slept until 9:30 a.m.  I needed the sleep. Ate a leisurely breakfast of oats with blueberries and a cup of coffee.
My grown kids and I went to the bank, car wash and then ate some lunch. I had two small thin crust pizza slices and a Italian salad. Yum! I like the thin crust because I don't really enjoy the breading, but the sauce, cheese and toppings.
Later, we took my eldest son's car to have an electronic remote starter installed on the car, so we ate dinner at B.J.'s while waiting.

Today was just "Spring like" so we took a good long walk. I also helped shine and polish the inside of my youngest son's Trooper. He's going on an date, tonight, and he wanted his truck to look and smell good...just like him. :D

Exercise:
Walked about 2 miles
Kettle bell
Stretching and muscle toning.

Menu:
Small, about 1/2 cup of oats with blueberries and coffee

Pizza and salad, diet coke.

Grilled Tilapia - Cajun style, mixed salad with oil and vinegar. YUM!

Week 32, Saturday, Diet with Dianna

Psalm 23:1-3 The LORD is my shepherd.
I will always have everything I need.
He gives me green pastures to lie in.
He leads me by calm pools of water.
He restores my strength.
He leads me on right paths to show that he is good.

Rut, rut, rut...I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and going nowhere fast. I feel like I have lost my enthusiasm and drive. It seems that Satan is throwing food in my face; temptation is everywhere.  I feel physically robbed. Today, was not a good day. I didn't sleep well last night and today my allergies were annoying me. I thought I had gotten over this and today it seemed to be coming back.

PRAYER! PRAYER! THANKSGIVING! PRAISE! This is what my Spirit urged me to do today. So, I spent about several hours in Bible study and listening to praise music and worshiping God! I closed my bedroom door and just captured the Holiness of the Lord. I needed to take the focus off of me and my circumstances and put them on the Lord. He is my strength and refuge. Later in the day I dressed for church and went to participate in BIG worship. I could feel my Spirit reviving and bubbling and moving. Even though my body is sore and exhausted, my spirit has been recharged. I know I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me.

My family is a great support system too. If not for them, I would have failed by now. I know that I can lean on them for motivation and engorgement. Not mere words but participating with me in walking. They, like the Lord, are restoration. I know that tomorrow I will be ready to resist to temptations, tackle exercise and get out an walk. I will be a success at eating well!

No exercise today. I rested my physical body but I exercised my mind and Spirit in the Lord!

Menu:

  • Small bowl of oats, toast, egg, turkey sausage, and coffee.
  • Turkey, spinach, basil pesto, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and a few chips
  • Asparagus and yellow squash, whole wheat toast.
  • Cutie mandarin orange and chai tea.

Week 30, Friday, Diet with Dianna

Christmas Eve 2011.
The best Christmas Eve on record for me. Spent the day with my beautiful family. We had a delicious breakfast of homemade french toast, eggs, turkey sausage and coffee. Then around 1 p.m. we drove across town to my mother-in-law's house to have Christmas Eve fellowship. I ate delicious healthy food. I had fresh veggies, a small triangle chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat bread, a few corn tortillas and some red grapes. Coffee for dessert.
Next we attended a candlelight worship service at our church. SUPER AWESOME! Beautiful inspiring service. I was brought to tears at the sheer number of people and the view of all the candles. God was in the house!
Finally, we headed back home for our traditional Subway sandwich dinner and watched "White Christmas".  So much fun; Heaven on earth.

A good time was had by all. Christmas Day is on its way.
